New Orleans is music. The city pulses to its own beat, a mixture of Afro-Cuban and Carribbean rhythms mixed in a cultural gumbo with the European melodic and harmonic tradition. The birthplace of jazz is also the primary creative birthplace of rhythm and blues, the "funk" of the 70's, and of a special type of music rarely heard outside of New Orleans during carnival time __ Mardi Gras Music.
